You’ll definitely want to bring your beach towels and binoculars on this trip. We’re directly across the street from Orchard Beach State Park where you’ll be captivated by spectacular sunsets and unforgettable views of Lake Michigan along with miles of trails through old-growth forest. Or head to nearby Bar Lake. With its shallow clear water and sandy bottom, it makes for warmer swimming than Lake Michigan, which happens to be just a stone’s throw away over the dunes.

Less than 3 miles down the road is Downtown Manistee, with dining, shopping, and green spaces to inspire and delight. Meander along the Riverwalk and watch the ships come in as the sun sets. Then head to River Street and take your pick from Manistee’s many eateries. Choose from seafood with a river view, coffee and treats in an intimate setting, tacos that the locals rave about, and more, all in an easily walkable town that’s so cute, you’ll swear you’re on a movie set.
